When it comes to network marketing, there is a bad notation on it in general. There are some companies that are scams or gifting. For the most part it is because the pay structure is illegal. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish legal and reputable MLMs from illegal pyramid schemes. Many pyramid schemes try to present themselves as legitimate MLM businesses. In most legitimate MLM companies, commissions are earned only on sales of the company’s products or services. No money may be earned from recruiting alone, though money earned from the sales of members recruited is one attraction of MLM arrangements. If participants are paid primarily from money received from new recruits, or if they are required to buy more product than they are likely to sell, then the company is a pyramid scheme.

Network Marketing schemes have several turn-offs. Here are a few that bug me:

1. They force you to take advantage of friends and family members in order to earn a living. That’s no way to treat your friends.

2. It’s nearly impossible to make any real money unless you’re able to “get in on the ground floor” of one of these schemes.

3. They force you to turn into a cheerleader every time the Big Cheese holds a meeting. Or, you are forced to look and talk successful whenever a prospect is brought to a meeting. (It’s hard to be cheerful and excited when you know someone else will be competing for customers in your same area.)

4. Most people can only use so many household cleaners, storage containers, cooking utensils and the like. I mean, how many times can you hold a Tupperware party among the same group of friends? Eventually, even your best friends are going to reach their saturation point.

5. Once the word gets out at work that you sell INSERT PRODUCT LINE HERE, co-workers will no longer look at you as a fellow employee. They’ll look at you as the guy who sells that gourmet cooking ware, and they’ll avoid you for fear of being sold something.

Okay, I think that’s it. Other than these issues, I love network marketing. Everyone should debase themselves at least once by being involved in one.

They take advantage of people who generally shouldn’t be investing money by promising unfulfillable dreams.

That ones enough.
