How does one succeed in network marketing/mlm?

apsuz73 asked:

Ok, I have now tried several different companies that have been around 20 plus years with reputable products that I have used and seen results from and are easy to get excited about. I have tried warm market, cold market and pre-interviewed leads. I have followed a script (Dani Johnson). I have a positive attitude and have done a little studying into sales and communication. I have gone to meetings, been on conference calls and have bought promotional materials (catalogs, demos, etc). But I have not had 1 sale, much less sponsered anyone. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. How can someone like me, who has so much desire and puts forth so much effort, succeed instead of just watching others who do so much less get so far ahead? I really want to know what I’m doing wrong so I can be successful. Any serious advice would be greatly appreciated.
I’m not looking for “get rich quick”. I know that to succeed in anything, it takes hard work and commitment. I’m just trying to figure out what the people I’m watching make millions have that I don’t.
I forgot to mention, I’m not looking for a new company (who I’m currently with has been around for 20 plus years with no signs of slowing). I don’t want advertising answers, I am looking for something that can help me switch from “trying” to “doing” and become successful.

The real key is to build a list or a team of people. You really need people to follow you–not you follow others. Create your own conference call. It’s really not about the effort you put in but the call to action you make others want to do. Network marketing is one of the hardest industries. Maybe you need to check out other companies–look at my profile if you want for more ideas. Good Luck to you!

The best way to make money from a MLM is to not get involved. Just get a regular job and stop falling for the “get rich quick” schemes. My sister-in-law was doing it and she figured if she hadn’t spent the money on making money “the easy way”, she would have about $10K in the bank. The percentage of people who are successful in these type of venture is extremely low. They fail to mention that when you get ready to “buy in”. Oh Debbie…how about “trolling” for business elsewhere?

Let me see if I can shed some light on this for you! If you were to compare MLM (multi-level marketing) to Network Marketing…then there is a difference so to speak. From my personal experience in both……Networt marketing with a good product that you know and understand is the key as well as knowing you use the product. One, in the MLM world….you buy “into” it and then you are on your own. You train yourself, you answer your own questions…then you try to market whatever it is you have to market to someone, anyone who will buy the product. Ask yourself this…..in the “companies” that you were involved in….did you use the products you invested in or did you like any of the products you invested in? In either type of marketing, there is no “get rich quick” scheme….so if that is what you are looking for, then you are better banking your money. I prefer network marketing. Why? I like being in business for myself but not by myself. I’m looking for residual income! Company provides all the training products imaginable. I’m provided ny own web page with my own “back office” that tracks my orders, my commissions and my team. Yes, I am a team builder plus I do fundraisers for various organizations.
Do I like the products I sell? I love the products I sell! I use all products and I educate myself, so when I am introducing the products; whether it be someone who wants to earn extra money or buy the products that I sell then I am in “my comfort zone” so to speak as I am knowledgeable. How did that happen? The company that I am independent distributor for provides all the training I could ever need! I have team members who are there for me. We have become email friends. It’s like one BIG happy family!
I would really like to talk to your further…there is absolutely no pressure! I am looking for distributors to be a part of my team nationwide. You don’t have to team build unless you want to. You have a $39.95 invenstment! There is no quota to meet, no inventory to stock unless you want to….it is your Business…..You give it a name! We help you by providing you all the necessary tools in hopes that you do have a desire to have that financial fredom and the dedication it takes to make Your Business Successful! And if anyone else that reads this, your invited to my web page as well. Give your self the opportunity to take a look at a product that is so easy to sell and ask yourself…why not me? The answer…it can be you! So take a look and if you’d like more info with NO Pressure, then email me and I’d be glad to share the opportunity that was given to me as well…….

I second what Patrick says above. I would look for a sales job with a reputable company (sellingpower.com publishes lists of these) that pays a base salary plus commissions. You can make C-level money in sales without any network marketing involved.

Effort is very important, but so is doing things in just the right way. Salesguy.org published a great book of sales metrics and tht showed what it takes to succeed in sales. (Also, TSC published an interview several years ago where they interviewed a 60M a year rep and he gave advice that was terrific. I just tried to find the article but was not able to find it — you might have better luck than me at finding it).

OK I read that you are not looking for a new company, but from what you are saying the people who sponsored you into the business are not doing their job and supporting you. If you were to be sponsored by me as an example, the first thing I would get you to do is write down a list of everybody you know, perhaps you have already done that. Next I would get you to call several people on your list and ask them a very simple question to get a yes or no answer, I would teach you how to get the yes answers to talk to me, as an expert, and the no answers would be asked to try what it is we deal in.
My aim would be to build your business at least 3 deep, teaching you all the time how to duplicate what I do.
Network marketing is a people helping people business, if your people are not going out of their way to help you then get out of that company.
The company I am with has no products to sell, we have a service which people use every day and which if they switch to us will save them money. I know that I can work in 19 countries and if I get an enquiry from any of those countries I can make a few phone calls and find somebody who will help that person for me. Now I am not trying to sponsor you but I am trying to show you how a proper Netwok marketing business should operate.
If you would like to chat further on this subject, just email me and I will see what other advice I can give you.

A common query…

The answer…
Become a Renegade.

Is this serious advise?

Let’s put it this way. I don’t have
to approach friends, or family.
No meetings, conference calls, or promotional material.
No warm market, cold market and pre-interviewed leads.

No way!

How can someone like me, who has so much desire and puts forth so much effort, succeed instead of just watching others who do so much less get so far ahead?

Own a website (not replicated)

People who like my website decide to contact me because they like the information and wanted to learn more.

And if I decide to show Google or Yahoo ads, I can.
When you own a website - the rules change.

Crunch the facts. It’s scary.

You definitely have the desire to be a successful network marketer. These desires were placed in your heart for a reason. Are you getting any help from your upline? I would be glad to talk with you and maybe we can come up with some answers. Please go to my profile and send me an email. God Bless and Merry Christmas!

Most people today are pretty sophisticated when being approached by someone in an MLM company. If they were interested in network marketing they probably will check out your opportunity on the Net.

Many modern network marketing companies are increasingly using the Internet. The most successful sponsors are using lead capture pages, autoresponders, and webcasts to recruit and train their downlines.

The “old school” of warm and cold market prospecting has transitioned to driving traffic to your splash or lead capture pages. This lets interested people contact you first. And, it takes a lot of the burden off your shoulders.

Opportunity meetings and making appointments to visit prospects at home to “show the plan” have given way to webcasts and web-based closing presentations. This not only saves you time but expands your “cold market” to now include anyone with an Internet connection.

Training is also done live in webcasts. Both live and pre-recorded training sessions are typically available in your administrative site.
